The owner of a Barking beauty salon received a three-month suspended sentence and has been ordered to pay fines and costs of over £10,000, after he was caught selling banned cosmetic products. A whopping 675 products were seized!

Koloko Cosmetics Ltd T/A Supreme White and Mr Koloko were charged with two counts of failing to act with due care, by making cosmetic products available which did not conform with requirements, as laid out in the Cosmetic Product Enforcement Regulations 2013.

It’s so scary that people are making and selling cosmetics that aren’t safety assessed or certified, and that are totally unsafe to use on your skin. They can contain chemicals and all sorts of nasties – and getting your products tested and certified by an independent scientist is the only way to be sure that they’re safe for use.

That’s why all of our soaps are safety assessed and certified as totally safe. We’ve even gone one step further and we’ve doubly assessed our simple soap and baby soap bars to ensure that they’re completely safe for newborns and those with the most sensitive and delicate skin too. It’s just not worth taking a chance. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and you really shouldn’t put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t put in your body too.

That’s why our soap bars don’t have any added preservatives, colourants, fragrance oils or other artificial ingredients. We use the traditional cold process method that’s been used for thousands of years, and we never speed up the process artificially with additives either. Our bars are given up to six weeks to fully cure before they’re wrapped up for you.

When you buy skin products and cosmetics, make sure that they’re from a reputable maker or manufacturer, and that they are safety assessed and certified! That applies to small hobby makers or businesses too.
