Bean and Boy Handmade Soaps Market

Soaps looking fab at an outdoor market!

The Christmas Market Season is upon us and we’ve been very busy little elves travelling around Essex with our fabulous soaps. We love attending the farmer’s market in Leigh-on-Sea every month and it’s great to see so many familiar faces coming back to try different soaps and stock up on old favourites.

There are some amazing traders there and we particularly love Sarah Green Organics who do the most wonderful fresh veggies, and Elixirs of Life who make completely natural skincare balms, lotions and more. It’s a great community of like-minded people who all believe in going natural wherever possible.

We were also filmed! We’re going to be in a short film for the Dutch Tourism Board. As you do. We are quite excited to see the results of the whole impromptu event and will be sure to share it with you when we get a copy.

We also attended HANDMADE on Saturday – organised and run by the Southend Adult Community College. This event showcased Pier Projects: an enterprise initiative to support students with a learning difficulties develop items made in class to a commercial standard for sale.

Barking mad: we exhibited outdoors in the rain. Brr.

There were some amazing goodies to be had: birthday cakes for dogs (!) and handmade treats from Blaze’s Tasty Treats, hand-quilted loveliness and pottery goodies from a very talented 91-year old.

From there we went down to Cromwell Manor – a wedding venue in Pitsea, Basildon – and attended a full day event that went on well into the night. It rained, poured, drizzled and howled but people still came out full of the festive spirit. We thought we were all barking mad being out there but it was a lot of fun and we were able to support a number of other traders we hadn’t met before as they were travelling from other parts of the country.

This weekend coming (26th and 27th November) we will be at RAINHAM HALL just outside of London for a two-day National Trust Frost Fayre event. It’s going to be loads of fun so pop down and say hello!
