Inspiring Women: Meet Beth from Kippford Classic Car Hire

Are you on Instagram? We are (find us here!) and we’ve met some truly incredible people and inspiring women in business who are just perfect for this blog series. There are a lot of really interesting businesses on there too, and with Instagram you get a totally different insight into the inner workings and day-to-day routines of some pretty unusual (and awesome) offices.

One of those inspiring women is Beth who runs Kipford Classic Car Hire. Imagine spending your days in an office like this!

We hire out classic cars for self- drive hire. people hire them just for a day out or hire them for several days and drive them up to the Highlands, for example. Recently we launched a classic VW camper, which people are able to hire for camping breaks and holidays. We also have a chauffeured wedding service, which is very popular.

We got to know Beth a little more, and absolutely love that we have a name and a face to put behind all of their retro insta updates! Best of all, we love this trend of reusing, recycling, and fixing up traditional motors from the past to create beautiful memories going forward. What could be more special for a big occasion?

What inspired you to start your business? And what keeps you going?

Well to cut a long story short, my husband is a classic car enthusiast and ex motor technician. He wanted to satisfy his need for cars! I came into the business to do everything apart from looking after the cars! What keeps me going? Well I am really enjoying it, but also hope that eventually hubby can give up his other business. (Gin really helps though!!)

Where are you based, and where can people see you in person?

We are based in Dumfries and Galloway, south west Scotland. Coming up, on Saturday 24th June, we have a launch event for our VW Camper in combined with the 10th anniversary of our local produce fair at Colvend. There will be bands doing 50s, 60s and 70s music – to match our cars. Also, a hippy photo booth in the van and free cup cakes!

What do you love most about what you do?

If I’m honest I could probably earn more working in a shop or something, at the moment anyway. But I enjoy the variety, challenge and flexibility of our own business. Hopefully eventually it will really start paying off.
